Storage class specifiers are keyword used with identifier declaration to set their storage duration and linkage properties. For example, static and extern.

static sets static or thread_local storage duration and internal linkage property. extern sets static or thread_local storage duration and external linkage property.

There are couples of more such keywords such as thread_local, mutable, auto, and register.
