Radio Astronomy Terminology

  1. FoV: Field of view
  2. Baseline: An array of antennas and dishes replicating a single big telescope.
  3. Element: An antenna or dish in a baseline.
  4. big is small;small is big: bit telescopes have less FoV and vice versa.
  5. SDP: Science Data processor
  6. field
  7. polarizations:
    1. linear: XX, XY, YX, YY
    2. circular: RR, LL, LR, RL
  8. Spatial domain: This is the image domain where each pixel is defined with the position and intensity value.
